SUKKOT -

SUKKOT חג - סוכות Sukkot commemorates the forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the dessert, by living in temporary shelters or Huts In Hebrew they are called:

singular " - סכה Sukka"

plural " - סוכות Sukkot"

מיצווה for Sukkot is to follow the Laws of Torah words by taking the following Fruits: - פרות

  • ONE אתרוג - ETROG (Citrus of the Mediterenian)

  • ONE - לולב - LULAV (palm brunch)

  • THREE - הדסים - Hadasim (Myrtle brunches)

  • TWO - ערבות - ARAVOT (willow brunches)

Hold them together and shake towards all the corners of the world

Right - ימינה

אחורה - Back

Left - שמאלה

Front -קדימה

and all around - סביבף סביב

. We do this for each day of the holiday except Shabbatשבת

.

? We celebrate Sukkot 15 days after the first day of the

Sukkot is celebrated for 8 days.

From Sun down until sun down.

As soon as we break the Yom-Kippur fast after the Shofar blast has been heard, the adults go outdoors and start building the Sukkah סכה by putting four wooden pillars in the ground.

We all take pride as we share in the building and decorating the Sukkah סכה over the next few days.

The Orthodox Jews, eat, Pray conduct their regular daily rutin and later go on and sleep in the Sukkah for seven days,

to relive, & remember how it was for our forefathers living in the dessert for forty years.

Another reason for celebrating Sukkot is Harvest time

- Remembering that Farmers had to stay out doors, sleep outdoors away from home during the Fall Harvest season

in order to be ready to harvest the Fruits:

Grapes and Oranged and other foods that needed harvesting at that time.

Otherwise, the fruits might spoil. So the farmers built Sukkot

(the plural of Sukkah) to stay, sleep, and live in until the harvest was over.

>P A way of thanking him for the beautiful produce they just harvested.

The High Priests would give the food to the needy.

Today, we honor the tradition by collecting canned goods and other items and help the community.

SUKKOT - סוכות were wandering in the desert,and sleeping in small booths they could build and take apart quickly. The temporary shelters are called: סוכות Sukkot Booth. Sukkot סוכות commemorates the forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the dessert, by living in temporary shelters, huts called in singular " - סכה Sukka"

plural " - סוכות sukkot"

A big Mitzva מיצווה a good thing to do on Sukkot was Sukkot to follow the Torah's תורה words by taking the following Fruits of our Harvest: - פרות such as:
