Honey Heart Cookies
Honey Sweet Heart cut-outs, for a Sweet Holiday
Ingredients
| 1/2 cup | Almonds, Raisins, or Chocolate Chips (optional) |
| 3/4 cup | Margarine or butter (Softened) |
| 2 1/2 cups | Flour |
| 3/4 cup | Honey |
| 1/4 Tsp. | Almond Extract (Vanilla or Lemon May be Used) |
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
- In a large bowl, with electric mixer on medium speed, beat Butter, Honey, and Almond Extract until light and fluffy.
- Add flour, a cup at a time beating well after each addition.
- Mix in Almonds or Raisins or choclate chips (or whatever you like).
- Roll out and cut out cookies or shape with hands into balls.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Optionally, decorate with candy sprinkles of all colors (you may use candy beads).
- Optionally, decorate by mixing an egg yolk with 1/2 tsp. of water and a drop of food coloring and brushing on cookies.
- Crimp the edges of the cookies using a folk or knife.
- Bake until golden brown - about 15 to 20 minutes.
- After cooking, sprinkle the cookies with powdered sugar.
