Honey Heart Cookies

Honey Sweet Heart cut-outs, for a Sweet Holiday

Ingredients

1/2 cupAlmonds, Raisins, or Chocolate Chips (optional)
3/4 cupMargarine or butter (Softened)
2 1/2 cupsFlour
3/4 cupHoney
1/4 Tsp.Almond Extract (Vanilla or Lemon May be Used)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, with electric mixer on medium speed, beat Butter, Honey, and Almond Extract until light and fluffy.
  • Add flour, a cup at a time beating well after each addition.
  • Mix in Almonds or Raisins or choclate chips (or whatever you like).
  • Roll out and cut out cookies or shape with hands into balls.
  • Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  • Optionally, decorate with candy sprinkles of all colors (you may use candy beads).
  • Optionally, decorate by mixing an egg yolk with 1/2 tsp. of water and a drop of food coloring and brushing on cookies.
  • Crimp the edges of the cookies using a folk or knife.
  • Bake until golden brown - about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • After cooking, sprinkle the cookies with powdered sugar.
